APG|SGA makes the global CDP A List once again for transparency in climate protection reporting

February 7, 2024

Global environmental organisation CDP has scored APG|SGA a strong A- for 2023, confirming the Swiss Out of Home media provider's leadership status in climate protection reporting. APG|SGA uses various measures to achieve its own climate and environmental goals and has been documenting its progress in this regard for more than twenty years.

APG|SGA was awarded a very good A- for the transparency and quality of its climate protection reporting in the 2023 CDP scores – the second year in a row it has made the environmental organisation's A List. Despite the ever-increasing demands of the CDP standards, APG|SGA was able to confirm its leadership status and even improve its overall score. Among other things, this was thanks to increased involvement in the supply chain, as well as analysis of climate risks in the context of scientific climate scenarios. The positive assessment reflects the company's targeted implementation of its corporate social responsibility strategy (CSR strategy).

Markus Ehrle, CEO of APG|SGA, was delighted with the score. He commented: “We published our twentieth sustainability report in 2023 and took part in the CDP climate-change reporting mechanism for the seventh time. These efforts have paid off, with our long history of involvement in this field and the great new result demonstrating that we inform our stakeholders transparently and that APG|SGA operates sustainably. We will maintain our pioneering role in 2024 and pursue the path of continuous improvement step by step.”

The APG|SGA commitment to climate protection

  • Net zero: APG|SGA has set itself ambitious climate protection targets, aiming to halve its net CO2 emissions by 2027 compared with the baseline year of 2017 and achieve a neutral carbon footprint by 2035.

  • 100% green electricity: APG|SGA uses only “naturemade star-certified” green electricity from Swiss hydropower or solar electricity from its own PV systems at its Zurich and Lausanne sites.

  • More environmentally friendly buildings: Renovations of roofs and façades at various sites in 2023 improved the energy efficiency of the buildings concerned. Further construction measures are planned for 2024.

  • Greener products: Upgrades to more energy-efficient technologies (e.g. LED) are leading to continuous improvements in the APG|SGA product portfolio. In 2024, dialogue with suppliers will be key to achieving emission reductions in the supply chain.

CDP raises the benchmark every year
Every year, CDP uses a comprehensive questionnaire to check whether companies are effectively helping to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The disclosure and scoring process managed by CDP, a non-profit organisation, is the gold standard for transparent environmental performance and corporate responsibility. CDP uses a detailed, independent methodology to assess participating companies and score these on a scale of A (best result) to D-. It considers such criteria as extent of the disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks, and implementation of best practices in environmental leadership, along with the setting of ambitious, meaningful and science-based targets. The CDP questionnaire benchmark is developed and raised every year to ensure that even high-scoring companies continue to improve.
